About Me
Biography
Mahan Haghighatian is a second-year student at the University of Maryland, studying Neuroscience. ​He spent the majority of his childhood and grade school years in Iran. In December of 2016, he immigrated to the United States, attending high school in Bethesda, Maryland. His enthusiasm lies in the study of biology, humanities, and arts. His intent is to pursue a career in medicine, as it fulfills his desire to make a meaningful contribution to others’ lives. Mahan is also a classical violinist, and through the music performance minor program, he wishes to fine-tune his skills and perform in different musical ensembles.
As a College Park Arts Scholar, Mahan hopes to not only learn and perform music, but to explore the history and the beautiful cultural influences that create diversity and beauty in music. He is also excited to explore new forms of arts and learn how they can be used to create positive change in the community. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, Mahan plans to attend medical school and continue his career in music.
